This scripted modifier is similar to a Noise modifier but with different controls.
Requires 3ds Max 2016+.
Works best in 3ds Max 2018.2+.
- Download the file
- Copy the DeviateVerts.mse file to your 3ds Max scripts/startup folder.
- Restart 3ds Max
Seed: Randomize the results
Amount: Sets the amount to offset the vertices.
Allow Negative: When on, the randomness will range from the negative value of the amount to the amount. Otherwise, it will randomize between 0 and the amount.
Deviation Directions (XYZ): Set what axis to use for offsetting.
Randomize Each Axis: When on, a random value will be used for each axis used per vertex. When off, one random offset value for all axis will be used for each vertex.
Get offsets per face: When on, iterate over faces and deviate all vertices not previously modified in each face to the same offset. When off, deviate per vertex.
Auto Edge: Use Auto Edge to break polygons whose adjacent faces deviate from the threshold value.
Auto Smooth: Smooth adjacent faces within the threshold value.
